POSITION SPECIFICS
We are searching for motivated and talented Software Engineer join our Comprehensive Software Solutions (CSS) Department of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. CSS applies a wide variety of software concepts, techniques, and languages to solve challenging problems for ARL's sponsors as well as internally for ARL needs.
ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.
You will:
  • Work closely with a team to develop applications to best fit project needs
  • Maintain version tracking and code documentation
  • Support field testing - to include remote or in person troubleshooting of software system
  • Rigorously test application and write unit tests, if required for project

Required skills/experience areas include:
  • Programming in C/C++, C#, Java, or Python
  • Use of version tracking tools - Jira, Git
  • Creativity in problem solving
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills

Preferred skills/experience areas include:
  • A degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science
  • Embedded software development
  • Graphical user interface development
  • Current eligibility for access to classified information at the TS/SCI level or higher and may be subject to a government background investigation to upgrade clearance eligibility, if required

Your working location will be fully on-site, located in State College, PA. This position may also require periodic travel to remote locations in support of testing.
