Job description

Job Title: Field Service Engineer

Job Description

This direct hire position offers an exciting opportunity to join an automotive custom machine manufacturer as an entry-level Field Service Engineer. Ideal candidates are those eager to transition into controls, software, mechanical, or electrical engineering position by leveraging the fundamental knowledge gained during their academic pursuits. This role is perfect for individuals who have played a critical role in college projects, possess hands-on co-op or internship experience, and are passionate about growing rapidly as engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in hands-on engineering tasks, primarily focused on learning and training initially.
  • Undergo 2-4 months of training at the Grand Rapids site, receiving instruction from the Field Service Manager and team.
  • Observe, shadow, and replicate engineering behaviors during training.
  • Interact with customers to teach them the startup, operation, and commissioning of equipment.
  • Work with electrical assembly of panels, high voltage power sources, PLC panels, transistors, and motor drives on large metal, hydraulic, and mechanically automated equipment.
  • Provide support and service for testing equipment used in automotive assembly plants.
  • Travel extensively (70-90% of the time) across various parts of the US.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Fundamental understanding of PLC/ladder logic.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Clean driving record.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of experience in pneumatics and hydraulics.

Work Environment
