We bring together planners, engineers, architects, construction management staff, environmental, strategic communications, economists, management consultants and specialists across disciplines to solve complex mobility challenges with innovation, technical excellence, and a deep understanding of community needs. Whether you're modernizing aging infrastructure or pioneering next-generation transportation solutions, your contributions will help define the future of mobility. This isn't just a job, it's a chance to lead progress, drive meaningful impact, and leave a legacy of smarter, more connected transportation networks. We are all employee-owners at HDR, which is the foundation of our collaborative culture that connects employees around the world.
In the role of Electrical Design Coordinator, we'll count on you to:
- Technical Related Responsibilities
- Support the planning and design of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, including public charging, fleet charging, workplace charging, and charging infrastructure for emerging vehicle and fleet applications.
- Work under the direction of senior electrical engineers to perform electrical design tasks, including electrical service and supply-equipment sizing, electrical calculations, one-line diagrams, equipment siting and protection, grounding design, and preparation of switchboard and panelboard schedules
- Prepare conduit and feeder cable schedules, duct-bank and trenching details, equipment schedules, design details, quantity calculations, cost estimates, technical specifications, and final design plans.
- Conduct field investigations, site visits, existing-condition assessments, and due-diligence evaluations to support conceptual and final EVSE site designs
- Evaluate charging equipment, electrical infrastructure requirements, utility service needs, site constraints, constructability considerations, and opportunities for future expansion.
- Prepare EVSE conceptual layouts, technical memoranda, reports, design calculations, and other project documentation.
- Coordinate with electric utilities, equipment manufacturers, roadway, civil/site, traffic, structural, architectural, communications, survey, environmental, and construction teams.
- Provide construction-phase technical support, including preparation of bid addenda, review of submittals, responses to requests for information, construction progress reviews, site inspections, punch-listing, change-order support, and incorporation of approved changes into project documents.
- Support compliance with applicable electrical codes, accessibility requirements, utility standards, permitting requirements, and other relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines.
- Participate in client and project meetings and support coordination with public agencies, fleet operators, utilities, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Assist with technical research, data analysis, grant applications, reports, presentations, proposal development, and transportation electrification industry initiatives.
- Support the continued growth of HDR's transportation electrification, Zero Emissions Mobility, and related transportation technology practices locally and nationally.
- Perform assignments under the supervision of a professional engineer and progressively assume greater technical and design responsibility.
- Non-Technical Related Responsibilities
- Assist with the development of federal, state, and local grant applications involving transportation electrification, alternative fuels, zero-emissions mobility, and related infrastructure.
- Communicate workload, schedules, deliverable status, and task priorities with project managers and supervisors.
- Follow established QA/QC procedures and incorporate review comments into project deliverables.
- Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams located locally and nationally.
