Pay Grade:  M02

POSITION SUMMARY 

This is an entry-level, hybrid position that provides support to both the Accounting and Finance functions of Hoosier Energy. The Financial Analyst assists with general ledger accounting, prepares financial analyses, and supports the preparation of internal and external financial reporting. This role is designed for a recent graduate or early-career professional; no prior work experience is required. Training and mentorship will be provided to develop technical accounting and financial analysis skills while gaining exposure to the electric utility industry. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assists with general ledger accounting activities, including preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Assists in the preparation of internal and external financial reports, including monthly management reports, quarterly financial statements, and supporting schedules.
  • Performs financial analysis to support management decision-making, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and ad-hoc analytical requests.
  • Researches and analyzes financial, economic, operational, and regulatory data and/or information on various facets of the electric utility industry.
  • Supports treasury functions including day-to-day cash management and short-term cash forecasting.
  • Assists with financial compliance filings and maintains supporting documentation.
  • Assists with wholesale tariff and billing analysis.
  • Supports electronic payment processing and finance records management.
  • Maintains accounting records and financial databases and prepares supporting financial information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Mathematics minimum
  • Accounting or Finance concentration; coursework in financial reporting or corporate finance preferred.

Experience:

  • Entry-level position; no prior work experience required.
  • Internships or coursework in accounting, finance, or financial analysis are a plus.
