Job Title: Production Worker
Job Location: Farwell, MI 48622
Duration: 3 Months (Temp to Hire)

Shift: 3rd Shift: 8PM-6AM 
Shift: 1st shift - 6AM-4PM
 
   
Job Description:   
  • The Worker I position performs general labor tasks associated with foam seat production including inserting components, demolding, waxing molds, trimming parts, inspecting and repairing defects, and packing finished goods.
  • This role requires adherence to safety standards, quality expectations, and production processes.
  • Candidates must be flexible, reliable, and capable of working in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
General Duties:
  • Perform general labor tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain clean work areas during downtime and at shift end.
  • Follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Report issues to supervisor or line technician promptly.
  • Adhere to safety and quality practices and standards.
Demolding:
  • Remove molded foam seat pads from molds.
  • Place parts on conveyor for finishing.
  • Remove excess foam particles or wax build-up from molds.
  • Notify supervisors of issues such as underfills or wax burns.
Waxing:
  • Clean foam particles or wax buildup from molds.
  • Apply spray wax (demolding agent) evenly to mold surfaces.
  • Calibrate and operate aerosol wax gun properly.
Insert Placement:
  • Place appropriate inserts (wires, felts, Velcro) into molds.
  • Assist in recovering dropped or misplaced inserts.
  • Notify supervisors of insert shortages.
Trimming:
  • Remove ribbon vents and uncontrolled flash (>25mm) using scissors or air trimmer.
  • Inspect parts for defects (flash, hard spots, underfills, foam-free areas).
  • Wear safety glove on the non-dominant hand during trimming.
  • Notify supervisor of any B-surface defects or issues.
Repairing:
  • Repair foam seat voids as identified by inspectors.
  • Fill small voids with repair foam and trim to contour.
  • Use scoop for repairs when required.
  • Report insert shortages to supervisors.
Packing:
  • Remove and identify parts from the monorail and place in correct bins.
  • Pack parts based on posted pack descriptions (orientation, quantity, vehicle).
  • Verify correct quantity, orientation, and secure placement in bins.
  • Assist with product labeling as needed.
  • Notify supervisor of imbalances in part inventory.
Mold Cleaning:
  • Clean mold bowls, ribbon vents, and wire holders of any foam.
  • Apply paste wax to areas that were scrubbed or had stuck foam.
  • Ensure all components are foam-free and vent paths are clear.
  • Identify and inspect all venting elements, especially ribbon vents.
