Job description

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for consideration of an open Field Engineer Technician position in our Program Management division. This position will be located at our Client's Chattanooga TN office.

The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.

The Program Management Services Division at LaBella provides comprehensive management services for complex projects and multi-year capital programs. Project teams are established to provide a customized mix of business consulting, project management, financial control and monitoring, administrative, and technical support services.

The Field Engineer Technician is responsible for designing electric and communication facilities to meet the needs of the client.  This includes designing work to serve new customers and improve and maintain existing infrastructure.   In this role, the successful candidate is required to build productive relationships with all team members, client representatives and end customers, while ensuring high quality deliverables are provided in accordance with commitments made to the client throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Design and modify electrical facilities, both overhead and underground. Follow applicable codes, client standards and methods, client policies, and customer needs in the design process.
  • Interface with customers via in person site visits, phone, and email.
  • Collect customer data and/or their representative's data to estimate electric usage and revenue, fault current for their equipment, electric account deposit, construction growth credit, create sales orders, obtain customer's approval/signature, and track cost and revenue estimates as per client's service policies.
  • Initiate work orders for the construction department
  • Perform / generate a cost estimate for work in client Work Management System
  • Generate a job sketch for the work in clients Graphical Facilities System.
  • Update Customer Information System with relevant data for the electric account.
  • Successfully manage time and schedule to maximize customer service and individual productivity.
  • As requested, participate during system emergencies such as storm restoration by scouting incidents, providing field information to EPB dispatch personnel, and assisting with providing oversight of contractor field crews repairing the damaged electrical infrastructure (bird dogging).
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • Electrical Distribution Design experience or degree is required
  • AA / BA in Electrical Engineering
  • Basic understanding of electrical distribution design
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Proficiency in CAD, GIS
  • Preferred experience and proficiency in Enquesta, GTECH, GTViewer
  • Knowledge of entry-level technical applications
  • Possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in state of residence and demonstrate safe and responsible operation of motor vehicles. Must operate motor vehicles during normal working hours to perform various assigned tasks.
  • Strong written and oral speaking skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including customers.
  • Ability to take on new challenges and learn new skills as needed.
  • Communication, decision-making, mechanical aptitude, and customer service skills.
  • The work environment typically represents a standard office setting while occasionally working outside in all terrains and weather conditions.
