Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer will provide key support in actively improving and driving processes and productivity. This position will support production, as well as improve and support current manufacturing, documentation and processes metrics. It will also contribute to the improvement of existing processes, and collaborate with product design teams to achieve design for manufacturability.

Responsibilities

  • Estimates manufacturing cost, determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. maintaining labor standards, cost estimates, capacity planning, throughput time standards, floor layouts, and schedules.
  • Perform electrical, software and mechanical designs. Examine and review drawings, blueprints, schematics, work orders, vendor catalogs and other technical data to ensure compliance with specifications and requirements.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies of electronic equipment.
  • Perform new process development, monitor, and maintain the processes in all areas of manufacturing including but not limited to assembly, soldering, coating, prep, and related equipment with consideration of ISO-9001-2000, J-STD-001, IPC-A-61 0 Class 3, and other Surface Mount technology Quality standards relative to DoD contracts. Schematics Capture, PCB layout, Simulation Capabilities & others
  • Generate, implement, and maintain Manufacturing Documentation including but not limited to work instructions, lot travelers, flow diagrams, procedures, and manufacturing proposal documentation. Initiate requests for engineering changes to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Manage Product life cycle from development stage to obsolescence (PLM)Write and address change requests, to include Engineering Change Requests, Engineering Change Notices, Engineering Change Proposals, Requests for Deviations and Requests for Waivers, Dispositioning.
  • Select, propose, and sometimes design equipment and tooling for manufacturing as well as set up, process development, implementation, and maintenance of said equipment.
  • Evaluate, trouble shoot, recommend, and implement solutions related to all manufacturing processes, operational systems, procedures, and documentation.
  • Interfaces with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products/Processes. Prepare & Perform test plans, test procedures, test reports, reliability and life studies, and reports on failure analysis.
  • Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations. One of the main interfaces for customers and vendors for problem solving, bid proposals, and related issues.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI’s):

  • On time delivery (optimize process through put and provide technical support)
  • Deliver solutions that maximize productivity of operations team.
  • First Pass Yields, Throughput rate, Reduce COPQ
  • Must be familiar & well versed in reading PCB Routing & 3D Modeling.
  • Experienced with Electronics CAD Software Altium, Cadence, Ki cad, Eagle, Autodesk Fusion

MINUMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors in technical discipline, prefer Electrical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering
  • Prior Experience in manufacturing, automotive, or defense is a plus
