Overview

An opportunity is available for an entry-level Surveyor / Sensor Operator to support aerial mapping and geospatial data acquisition projects. This role combines field surveying with operation of advanced airborne sensor systems, offering hands-on training in LiDAR, photogrammetry, and GIS-related technologies.

The position is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, adaptable, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with survey and mapping projects including LiDAR, topographic, hydrographic, and bathymetric data collection

  • Operate and support airborne sensor systems aboard fixed-wing aircraft

  • Collect, upload, process, and perform quality control (QC) on field data

  • Support GPS, control, and field surveys in accordance with established procedures

  • Assist with installation and basic maintenance of sensor equipment and aircraft systems

  • Track and report on project progress and production metrics

  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance (QA) standards and project deadlines

  • Collaborate with field and office teams to maintain efficiency and accuracy

  • Assist with office-based production tasks during downtime


Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • GIS experience is a plus

  • Prior experience in surveying or sensor operation is preferred, but not required


Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel overnight and be deployed for extended periods

  • Comfortable working flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends

  • Ability to fly in aircraft for 3-6 hour missions, potentially multiple times per day

  • Not prone to motion sickness

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions


Licenses
  • Valid Driver's License required
