The Data Center Mechanical/Electrical Technician is responsible for the daily operation, inspection, and maintenance of critical facility systems, including power, cooling, backup generation, and physical security infrastructure. This role monitors environmental conditions and equipment performance, responds to facility alarms and service tickets, performs troubleshooting and repairs, and maintains accurate technical and maintenance documentation. The Data Center Facilities Technician will support the local site team on multiple daily (technical) duties in the datacenter and office. This position reports to the Chief Engineer.

Work Schedule: 40hr work week | Monday-Friday

Hourly: $34-$37

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure proper maintenance of critical data center equipment such as Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), HVAC systems, backup power generators, and physical security systems.
  • Identify, report and resolve technical issues identified within the Data Center categorized as whether related to hardware or software systems.
  • Monitor and evaluate data center performance, including power consumption, ambient temperature and other critical factors affecting data center operation.
  • Keep technical documentation of the data center up-to-date and accessible to include user manuals, cabling diagrams, and maintenance records.
  • Monitor Ticket queues and ensure all customer tickets and responded to within required SLA times.
  • Perform all tasks of a Data Center Shift Technician, including critical equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and data center performance oversight.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, vendors and end customers to receive and provide status updates to ensure all stakeholders are informed through completion of Work Order Request.
  • Supervise vendors and contractors working in the data center, ensuring compliance and security standards.
  • Continuously evaluate the data center for opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 years of data center experience, operations, and maintenance of critical facilities.
  • Knowledge of critical infrastructure - to include MV switchboards, Transformers, Generators, ATS/STS, UPS, PDUs, RPPs.
  • Strong communications, both written and verbal, coordinating with local and regional teams.
  • Commitment to organizational excellence and constant awareness to seek opportunities to improve processes/quality of deliverables.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to meet committed timelines, leveraging assistance/input from team.
  • Strong and effective team player in working with various disciplines and peer groups; can cover all gamut of tasks required to โ€˜getting a job done.โ€™
  • Strong attention to detail


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time in various work environments
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment related tasks
  • Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas quickly
  • Ability to move quickly and efficiently withing various work environments to troubleshoot issues or respond to emergencies.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with small components and connectors
  • Clear vision, with or without correction, to perform tasks requiring attention to detail and precision while wearing safety glasses
  • Ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables
  • Ability to work in environments with a wide variety of temperatures inside a facility
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow
  • Capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection
  • Possession of a valid driverโ€™s license for work-related travel, as required

Compensation & Benefits Disclosure

The base pay range for this role is $35.00-$37.00 per hour. This range reflects a goodโ€‘faith estimate of what we reasonably expect to pay upon hire, based on factors such as skills, experience, education, and market/location. Our comprehensive benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, Health Savings Account (HSA), gym discount, mental health, Discounted Group Life & AD&D, Discounted Group Short & Long-term Disability, 401(k) retirement matching, PTO/paid holidays, and parental leave. Final compensation will be determined by jobโ€‘related factors consistent with applicable law.
