Job description

The Researcher performs laboratory tasks under direct supervision. Expected to understand underlying concepts of experimental design and to implement these concepts under direct supervision.
Dr. Jasmine Plummer is seeking a Researcher to focus on aiding her team's work in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of complex diseases.
This entry-level Researcher position is ideal for recent graduates (Bachelor's or Master's) seeking hands-on experience in a dynamic laboratory setting. The role is designed to provide exposure to cutting-edge research and practical skills, offering an excellent opportunity to launch your professional career in the scientific research field.
The Plummer Lab is centered on understanding how cellular origins and perturbations lead to disease development, particularly cancer and neurodevelopmental disorders. We employ a comprehensive multi-omics approach to analyze various biological data types, including genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics.
Top Skills We're Looking For:
  • Hands-on experience with cell culture, including aseptic technique and maintenance of cell lines
  • Strong foundation in molecular biology techniques, such as PCR and basic DNA/RNA workflows
  • Proficiency in pipetting with high accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience with sample preparation and handling of biological materials
  • Solid lab documentation and record-keeping practices
  • Familiarity with basic data analysis and interpretation of experimental results

Job Responsibilities:
  • Performs laboratory experiments as directed using specific and prescribed techniques/protocols.
  • Follows basic protocols, implementing experimental techniques prescribed by the supervisor and providing basic troubleshooting where appropriate.
  • Accurately records experimental procedures and data.
  • May draft results/data for posters, presentations or publications.
  • Operates lab equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned in order to meet the goals of the department and institution.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is required.

Minimum Experience:
  • No experience required.

Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $24.00 - $42.00 per hour for the role of Researcher - Plummer Lab (Center for Spatial OMICs).
