Job description
Supports the Fixed Income Capital Markets (FICM) Risk Management function by partnering with business areas to identify, assess, monitor, and manage risk. Helps strengthen the department's risk and control environment by evaluating business processes and controls, analyzing information, contributing to risk management initiatives, and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
Works collaboratively with associates across sales, trading, operations, technology, finance, compliance, legal, audit, and enterprise risk on recurring risk activities, business initiatives, and special projects.
The ideal candidate is intellectually curious and an early-career professional with strong analytical, problem solving, communication, and organizational skills. Prior experience in risk management or fixed income is not required. Success in this role is driven by learning agility, initiative, ownership, critical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with others. This position provides an opportunity to build a strong foundation in financial services, fixed income capital markets, and risk management while contributing to meaningful business initiatives.
Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Promotes practical risk management and control practices that support the FICM business and its strategic objectives.
• Supports the identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting of operational, compliance, market, credit, and other business risks.
• Conducts business process walkthroughs to document workflows, key risks, controls, dependencies, and opportunities to strengthen the control environment.
• Assists in maintaining risk and control assessments, control inventories, policies, procedures, issue logs, and risk acceptance documentation.
• Performs control testing and monitoring activities using established methodologies, including selecting samples, evaluating supporting evidence, documenting results, and identifying exceptions.
• Collects, validates, reconciles, and analyzes qualitative and quantitative information from multiple sources to identify trends, anomalies, emerging risks, and potential control weaknesses.
• Supports issue management activities by documenting observations, assisting with root cause analysis, monitoring remediation plans, and following up on corrective actions.
• Researches and interprets internal policies and standards, business requirements, regulatory guidance, and industry practices; summarizes findings and assesses potential business impacts.
• Assists with the planning and execution of risk management projects and other initiatives by coordinating activities, tracking deliverables, and communicating project status.
• Prepares professional reports, dashboards, presentations, committee materials, meeting summaries, and management updates to communicate risk information effectively.
• Supports internal and external audits and other independent reviews by gathering information, researching inquiries, and coordinating responses.
• Develops and maintains effective working relationships with business partners to gather information, support risk initiatives, and facilitate problem solving.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field preferred.
• Relevant work experience, internships, academic projects, student organizations, leadership experience, or other demonstrated experience applying analytical, organizational, and communication skills are preferred.
• Prior experience in fixed income, financial services, or risk management is not required. Recent graduates and early-career professionals with strong analytical abilities, intellectual curiosity, and a demonstrated willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
• Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
Licenses/Certifications
• Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) and Series 7 licenses are expected to be obtained within six months of the start date.
