Job description

The Wasatch County Deputy Sheriff Merit Commission announces recruitment with testing pending for the purpose of establishing a hiring roster as the Sheriff's Office regularly has openings for the positions of Deputy Sheriff and Corrections Officer.

The testing consists of a physical training exam, which is a pass/fail test based on POST Academy standards.

In addition, the test includes a written test, and a panel interview and Sheriff's Interview. The passing score on each test is 70%.

Applicants passing all tests are placed on a list of eligible applicants in the order of overall score, beginning with the highest. When a position opens, the Wasatch County Sheriff's Office fills the opening by selecting a candidate from the top three applicants. Applicants may increase their overall score if they qualify for additional credit for military service and/or post-secondary education.

2026 Entry-level Deputy Sheriff wage is $33.96 /hour plus a full benefit package. Entry-level Corrections Officer wage is $32.01/hour plus a full benefit package.
