Job description

Role Summary

Anthropologie Home is seeking an Assistant Designer for Functional Decor.  The Assistant Designer provides foundational support to the design team, assisting with the daily administrative and creative tasks required to move a product from concept to production. We are looking for someone with a unique balance of creative + technical skills and overall excitement for the Anthropologie brand.

Role Responsibilities

Conceptual 

  • Create special and inspiring 3D designs across hardware, storage, mirrors, and wall decor...aligning with current design trends and the Anthropologie brand identity
  • Support the design team in researching, preparing sketches, and gathering swatches for sketch review presentations

Research and Development

  • Conduct home & fashion trend research focusing on innovative techniques and materials
  • Find whitespace opportunities for new products to diversify our assortment 

Technical Specifications and Product Execution 

  • Assist in sketching ideas with Adobe Illustrator, translating 3D ideas into 2D orthographic views 
  • Render concepts in Adobe Photoshop + AI programs (PromeAI, Vizcom, etc) to produce compelling + realistic imagery
  • Tech pack designs with detailed specifications for sampling, and a strong attention to detail
  • Work with our product development team to assist in the creation of samples and strategize creative product solutions

Collaboration

  • Align closely with cross-functional teams, including concept, product development, and buying to ensure cohesive storytelling across all channels
  • Attend team cross functional meetings
  • Help prepare and set up samples for product line reviews
Role Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or similar area preferred
  • Entry-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and basic sketching skills
  • Internship experience
  • Curiosity in design trends and the arts
  • Foundational understanding of design principles and interest in home product
  • Keen attention to detail and organizational skills 
  • Desire to learn the retail business and design process in a fast-paced environment
  • Based in Philadelphia, hybrid WFH 1-2 per week
