Job Description:

Note: This position is a term position for 22 months.

The Buyer I will report to the Manager, Contracts and Sourcing.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage purchase orders and ensure that commitments are met, and issues are resolved.
  • Support and manage the competitive bid process for materials and services including developing competitive bid documents, managing the bid process to ensure fairness and compliance, evaluating bids and making recommendations.
  • Create, negotiate and manage contracts to effectively manage AltaLink’s risk. Manage contract changes, amendments and dispute resolution.
  • Ensure successful supplier relationships including the identification and development of key suppliers.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate key behaviors and meet identified expectations outlined in our four cultural pillars – one team, continuous improvement, customer focus and personal accountability

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • University bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance or other related disciplines.
  • Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP), National Institute of Supply Chain Leaders (NISCL) or equivalent, is an asset; or working towards a supply chain designation.
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience in procurement or supply chain management.
  • Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities.
  • Background in electrical utilities industry an asset.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Good computer skills including experience with SAP and Oracle an asset.
  • Understanding of legal terms and conditions.
  • Good negotiation and decision-making skills.
  • Results oriented with the ability to manage multiple complex tasks.
  • Organization and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive customer outcomes;
  • Proven track record of good attendance and performance
