Summary

Don’s Appliances is seeking an Apprentice Appliance Repair Technician to work under the guidance of experienced technicians to learn how to diagnose, repair, and maintain residential appliances. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals looking to start a long-term career in the appliance repair industry. The apprentice will gain hands-on experience, participate in training, and gradually take on more responsibilities as skills develop.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn and perform basic troubleshooting procedures under supervision.
  • Attend scheduled training sessions, online, in classroom-style settings, and in the field.
  • Assist senior technicians in diagnosing and repairing major home appliances, including refrigerators, ranges, ovens, dishwashers, washers, dryers, and microwaves.
  • Document work performed and parts used in the company software.
  • Communicate professionally with customers while observing how to explain repair needs and solutions.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and manufacturer specifications.
  • Shadow technicians to observe and learn proper techniques, workflow efficiency, and customer interaction.
  • Test repaired appliances to confirm correct and safe operation.
  • Assist Service Department with additional tasks as needed

 

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical school diploma (Prefered)

 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in technical work.
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions carefully.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently once trained.
  • Able to pass a criminal background and drug screening 
  • Legibly complete all paperwork
  • Operate a company vehicle in a safe manner
  • Strong computer proficiency, including email

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in maintenance, HVAC, automotive, or related trades.
  • Basic understanding of electrical or mechanical systems
  • Technical school coursework (not required but beneficial).
  • Basic tool knowledge and comfort using hand tools.


Physical Requirements

  • Physical stamina and dexterity, with the ability to lift and maneuver heavy appliances or components (up to 75 lbs.), stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods.

 

License/Certification

  • Valid driver's license

Work Location/Hours:

  • Robinson / Monday – Friday 8:00AM – 4:30PM Saturday rotation 
  • Regular travel to customer locations and training sites may be required.
