Job description

We are seeking an Operations Technician I who will play a vital role in maintaining the smooth operations of our data center facilities. This position is ideal for a novice, IT professional who is eager to get hands-on experience in a dynamic, high-tech environment. General assignments will include, but are not limited to entry-level technical tasks, cabinet prep, inventory handling, racking servers, cable pulling and termination, cleaning, working around HVAC and electrical equipment and organizational tasks. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, appearance, and the upkeep of the facility—someone dependable, adaptable, and ready to tackle the ever-changing demands of a 24/7 environment. The ideal candidate builds trusted relationships with internal teams and customers alike, representing TierPoint’s reliability, attention to detail, and commitment to operational excellence.

There shift schedule requirements:

Week 1: Thursday - Saturday, 8:30pm - 8:30am

Week 2: Wednesday - Saturday, 8:30pm - 8:30am


Hardware and Infrastructure Support:

  • Assist in the Installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, storage devices, and network equipment.
  • Provide remote smart hands support for customer advanced issues/concerns.

Monitoring & Maintenance:

  • Monitor and respond to alerts related to power, cooling, and network performance.
  • Perform regular facility security and operational walk-throughs for issue identification, reporting and documentation. 
  • Follow Method of Procedures (MOP) for equipment & cabling maintenance.

Incident Response & Troubleshooting:

  • Escalate critical incidents to senior engineers or management when needed.
  • Proactively manage ticket queue for timely request response and completion.

Security & Compliance:

  • React to alarms promptly and escalate any urgent or unresolved issues to senior staff.
  • Escort and supervise third-party vendors and visitors when required.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment changes, incidents, and maintenance activities.
  • Monitor security cameras.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • High School degree or equivalent
  • Adequate professional experience and knowledge to perform Job Responsibilities
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work both independently and with others
  • Ability to operate in a fast moving, team-oriented, collaborative environment with tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in using MS Office Suite and Windows-based computer applications

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience particularly in the data center industry

 Working Conditions

  • Data Center Operations environment.
  • Shift Work:
    • Availability for on-call duties and occasional shift work, including nights and weekends, as required by the data center’s operational needs.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to work in controlled environments and handle physical tasks such as lifting hardware or navigating confined spaces
