Commercial Real Estate Accounting Manager
Who: An industry-leading commercial real estate organization seeking an experienced accounting professional to support its development and property accounting portfolio.
What: An Assistant Controller role responsible for financial reporting, reconciliations, cash flow oversight, cost analysis, and development accounting.

Salary: $120,000-$145,000 base salary plus bonus, targeting approximately $135,000 base plus a 15% target bonus for approximately $155,000 in target annual cash compensation.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join an industry-leading commercial real estate organization in Atlanta. This position will play an important role in the accounting and financial reporting of development projects and individual properties, with responsibility for financial statements, general ledgers, reconciliations, project cash flows, cost tracking, and development entity reporting.
The ideal candidate has a strong property accounting foundation, hands-on reconciliation experience, and the ability to work closely with both development and accounting leadership in a fast-paced commercial real estate environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare financial statements, balance sheet account reconciliations, and related financial analysis.
  • Oversee cash flow sources for construction and development projects.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger and balance sheet accounts.
  • Perform daily cost tracking, research, and analysis.
  • Create daily, weekly, and monthly cost reports.
  • Maintain development general ledgers and financial statements for individual properties.
  • Prepare development entity financial reporting for monthly review with development and accounting managers.
  • Record accounting journal entries related to acquisitions, dispositions, and assets placed in service.
  • Research discrepancies and help ensure the accuracy and integrity of development accounting records.
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial statements, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience with commercial real estate, property accounting, development accounting, or construction accounting strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, and month-end close.
  • Experience preparing property-level financial statements and handling tenant billing.
  • Experience preparing and analyzing financial and cost reports.
  • Understanding of acquisition, disposition, and placed-in-service accounting.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple properties, projects, and reporting deadlines.
