You use the information you gather to review health charts and records and assign a diagnosis and treatment code. This is primarily for billing purposes. As an entry-level coder in the computer industry, your duties include conducting trial runs on new software, translating program performance into actionable improvements, and collaborating on code and program development with other coders to create the end-product.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Entry Level Coder, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level Coder, you need a solid understanding of programming fundamentals, problem-solving abilities, and at least one commonly used language such as Python, Java, or JavaScript, often supported by a relevant degree or coding bootcamp experience. This role is part-time and requires working on-site at our Hanover, MD office (not a remote position).

Requirements:

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the preparation of electrical design drawings, schematics, and layouts using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar CAAD platforms.
  2. Support the engineering team with load calculations, circuiting, and equipment layouts under the guidance of a senior engineer.
  3. Collaborate with project managers, electricians, and field teams to ensure design intent aligns with installation feasibility.
  4. Perform site visits to gather data, verify existing conditions, and assist with field documentation.
  5. Maintain and organize project drawing sets, redlines, and revision logs.
  6. Participate in the development of lighting, power, and control system plans for commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
  7. Assist with material take-offs, panel schedules, and coordination with other trades.
  8. Support quality assurance and compliance with applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, local jurisdictions).
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Strong understanding of basic electrical principles and systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for team collaboration.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
  • Internship or project experience in electrical design, building systems, or construction.
  • Familiarity with Revit MEP, Bluebeam, or BIM workflows.
  • Understanding of construction documentation and design-build project processes.
