Job description

About Radiance Technologies
Radiance Technologies is an employee-owned company with benefits that are unmatched by most companies in the Huntsville, AL or Dayton, OH areas. Employee ownership, generous 401K, full health, dental, life, and vision insurance benefits, interesting assignments, educational reimbursement, competitive salaries, and a collaborative work environment combined to make Radiance Technologies a great place to work and succeed.
Program Overview
This position supports the development of a next-generation modeling and simulation (M&S) framework for the Department of Defense. The program is an experimental effort with rapidly evolving requirements, demanding adaptability and innovation from the engineering team. It provides a flexible environment for wargaming and analysis across domains, from the seafloor to space. The mission is to deliver scalable, cloud-enabled solutions that enhance decision-making, accelerate capability development, and strengthen national security. The team is building a modern platform that leverages Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, and advanced automation practices to ensure security, resiliency, and mission impact.
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our Modeling and Simulation (M&S) development team. In this role, you will integrate with the platform engineering team to advance Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices, manage Kubernetes deployments, and develop Helm configurations that ensure scalability, security, and efficiency.
This position offers the opportunity to support the development and deployment of a next-generation modeling and simulation framework. While direct M&S experience is not required, we are looking for innovative, self-starting engineers who thrive in a fast-paced, high-profile environment.
Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain Kubernetes-based deployment strategies for a multi-service application
  • Develop, manage, and version Helm charts supporting multiple environments (dev, test, staging, production)
  • Implement secure configuration management (secrets, certificates, RBAC, network policies)
  • Troubleshoot complex deployment, integration, and runtime issues across distributed systems
  • Serve as a primary escalation point for production issues, driving root cause analysis and resolution
  • Provide direct support to internal teams and/or customers, including issue triage, communication, and resolution tracking
  • Optimize cluster performance, resource utilization, and cost efficiency
  • Collaborate with development teams to improve containerization and deployment practices.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT or related field.
  • US citizenship and ability to obtain a Top-Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong containerization experience (Docker, Podman, CRI-O, or similar.)
  • Scripting experience for automation and operational tasks (Ansible, Python, Bash, or similar).
  • Strong hands-on experience administering and securing Kubernetes environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience securing and maintaining Helm charts.
  • Proficiency with Git and Git-based workflows.
  • Strong Linux/SELinux system administration background.
  • Experience working with system context and security context configurations
  • Experience working with container sockets and understanding the related security implications

Desired Qualifications
  • Security+, CISSP, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS).
  • Familiarity with DoD security practices and hardened Linux distributions.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud service providers.

Soft Skills
  • Does not shrink when faced with a challenge but instead rises to the occasion with persistence and creativity.
  • Self-starter with a proactive mindset who takes ownership of tasks and drives them to completion.
    • Demonstrates initiative and independence, proactively identifying opportunities to contribute without needing constant direction.
  • Strong team player who collaborates effectively with diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to clearly explain complex concepts to technical and executive audiences.
  • Motivated by mission impact and excited to contribute to programs with national security significance.

What We Offer
  • Employee ownership with profit-sharing opportunities.
  • Competitive salary and unmatched benefits package.
  • Educational reimbursement and professional certification support.
  • Opportunities for growth on high-impact DoD programs.
  • A culture of innovation and collaboration.
