Job description

Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer

Location: Redford, MI

4 days in office, 1 day REMOTE; 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Pay:  $38.00-$41.00 hourly

Contract position for 18 months with possibility of conversion

ENTRY LEVEL/RECENT GRADUATES are welcome to APPLY

Responsibilities:

·       Work with the supplier to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented.

·       Manage timely resolution of supplier technical issues to ensure uninterrupted supply to production

·       Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects in an effort to increase the supplier capability of consistently meeting customer existing or new requirements.

·       Documents activities related to investigation, disposition, and resolution to quality complaints.

·       Conduct supplier audits to confirm product conformity, or drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.

·       Monitor, communicate and improve key supplier quality KPI’s, including DPPM, Quality

·       Complaints, and capacity to support OTS (On Time Ship) compliance.

·       Lead or support effort to establish specific short / long-term supplier quality goals.

·       Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers and customers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances.

·       Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply.

·       Interface and support cross functional business units on topics relating to supplier quality.

·       Oversee containment actions at the supplier to mitigate the impact of quality issues to Daimler.

·       Domestic and international travel (expected 30%)

Requirements:

·       Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related – mechanical engineer electrical process engineer chemical engineering 

·       Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.

·       Ability to present complex technical topics during meetings with suppliers and management.

·       Knowledge of GD&T and MSA. – Machining processes  background

·       Ability to understand metallurgical requirements and interpret reports.

·       Strong problem-solving skills and a solution-focused mindset.

·       Understanding of quality problem solving tools such as 8D, 5-why, fishbone, etc.

·       A customer-focused mindset with the ability to understand and address customer needs and expectations related to supplier quality topics.
