Job description

Overview
Department: Cardiac Rehabilitation
Shift's Available: Variable
Employment Type: Per Diem (PD/PRN)
Hours: 8-hour shift - 8:00am to 4:30pm
Location: Providence Medical Center - Kansas City, KS
The Cardiovascular Rehab RN or Cardiac Health RN in our Cardiac Rehabilitation department. A Cardiac Rehabilitation RN is a specialized RN who helps patients recover and improve their heart health after experiencing cardiac events such as heart attacks, heart surgeries, angioplasty, or heart failure. The Cardiac Rehabilitation RN's goal is to support physical, emotional, and lifestyle recovery to reduce the risk of future heart problems, working in our Cardiac Rehabilitation unit. Candidates must must have experience in the Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, ICU or ER, to move forward in this position.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
  • Patient Assessment: Evaluate patients' health status, vitals, and readiness for exercise
  • Developing Care Plans: Collaborate with cardiologists and exercise physiologists to create individualized rehabilitation plans
  • Supervising Exercise Sessions: Monitor patients during physical activity, ensuring safety and appropriate intensity levels
  • Education & Counseling: Teach patients about heart-healthy living, medication management, nutrition, smoking cessation, and stress reduction
  • Monitoring Progress: Track patient outcomes and adjust care plans based on response to therapy
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to cardiac emergencies during exercise sessions

Qualifications
Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Active state Registered Nursing (RN) License; required.
  • Current BCLS (AHA), ACLS certificate upon hire and maintain current required.
  • One (1) year clinical experience in a Cardiovascular Lab doing cardiac work or in a Critical Care area; required.
