Job Description
  • As an Associate Scientist (RD1) - Senior Associate Scientist (RD2), you will conduct or assist in conducting lateral flow based diagnostic product validation and registration studies, both internally as well as externally at reference laboratories
  • This will include the preparation of sample sets for the various tests, conducting the testing, take care of the logistics of conducting the studies at an external laboratory, maintain accurate records and assist in data entry and writing up the study reports
  • Outstanding laboratory safety awareness, Laboratory work may include processing blood samples to plasma/ serum, aliquoting of serum/ plasma or blood, processing faecal samples from animals, running lateral flow assays, and using automated and workstation screening equipment
  • rigid aseptic technique and notebook documentation are a prerequisite.
  • Self-motivation, ability to work independently, and strong teamwork skills are essential to be successful in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, execution and coordination of studies.
  • Conduct internal studies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of experimental methods and prepare procedures and reports.
  • Assist with the preparation and sharing of data to influence experimental direction.

Minimum skills, education, experience, attributes:

  • BS/ BA in microbiology/ biochemistry/ biomedical sciences or related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Desirable skills, education, experience, attributes:
  • Experience with diagnostic products, such as running lateral flow tests at veterinary or human hospitals.
  • Experience with handling biological samples, including faeces and blood.
