JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Banking Services Associate provides essential support to banking staff and customers in the daily operations of the bank branch. This role focuses strongly on building banking knowledge, providing an entry-level opportunity for hands-on learning and experience with customer transactions, bank products, and service.
The ideal candidate for this role should have a true desire to grow their knowledge and help others reach their financial goals. With professional communication abilities, a customer-service disposition, and a positive attitude, the Banking Services Associate provides support for a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Continually advancing their knowledge of banking and the company's specific products, policies, and processes, the Banking Services Associate works alongside Relationship Bankers to provide exceptional service and process customer transactions. This associate contributes greatly to the bank's success, participating in mentoring and career growth programs to advance their knowledge and, ultimately, their career within the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Learn to process deposits, withdrawals, and cash checks efficiently. Gain experience with money orders and cashier's checks, and balance assigned cash drawer at the end of each shift.
  • Greet customers warmly and assist them with their inquiries. Provide clear and helpful information about bank products and services, developing problem-solving skills by resolving basic customer issues and/or escalating as appropriate.
  • Keep accurate records of all transactions. Learn to log checks and prepare detailed transaction reports.
  • Gain hands-on experience counting and packaging currency; build attention to detail by reconciling cash drawers and reporting discrepancies.
  • Observe and assist Relationship Bankers with opening new accounts and processing loan applications. Learn the basics of loan information to help guide customers.
  • Inform customers about additional bank services like loans, credit cards, and savings accounts. Develop sales skills by cross-selling bank products to meet customer needs.
  • Identify opportunities to refer customers to the appropriate banking staff. Promote special offers and new products.
  • Direct customers to the right department or specialist for more complex inquiries. Learn to manage and prioritize customer inquiries to ensure timely and effective resolution.
  • Participate actively in training sessions to understand bank policies and procedures. Shadow experienced Relationship Bankers to gain practical, hands-on experience and continuously improve skills.
  • Adhere to all bank policies, regulations, and laws, ensuring all activities are compliant.
  • Assume responsibility for additional projects and tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers at all levels.
  • A positive and proactive approach to work, demonstrating enthusiasm, adaptability, and the ability to maintain composure and professionalism in stressful or adverse conditions.
  • Ability to identify and pursue sales opportunities by understanding customer needs and recommending appropriate products and services.
  • Critical-thinking skills and the ability to analyze data, drawing informed conclusions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
  • Mathematical proficiency and the ability to quickly and accurately complete standard calculations.
  • Proficient computer literacy, including comfort with Microsoft systems and Office Suite.
  • Intermediate typing skills to meet the needs of this position.
  • Current driver's license and reliable transportation with appropriate insurance coverage; additionally, the ability to drive occasionally in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and at other locations as needed.
  • The ability to work with minimal or no supervision.

  • Direct experience in customer service preferred.
