Job Summary:

Bongards’ Creameries is seeking a Night Shift Machine Operator based out of our Humboldt facility. This is an Entry Level position where the focus is operation of cheese making equipment on a rotational basis with the goal of a permanent assigned position in one of the four production lines. Responsibilities include machine operation, basic troubleshooting of equipment, line coverage wherever needed, other duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand and follow Good Manufacturing Practice protocols for PPE and Cleanliness (Handwashing, Uniform, Tools, etc)
  • Learn to operate multiple machines (filler, casting line, wrapper, former, grinder, massman, bander, etc)
  • Able to react quickly to resolve unforeseen issues 
  • Monitor quality of boxes, pouches, labels and communicate to other operators
  • Unwrap barrels, ensure cheese packages are made correctly
  • Assemble pallets of dry ingredients according to the blend sheet and update ROSS system
  • Open cheese packages and place in rework containers
  • Cleaning and Sanitizing of machines, all work areas after production is finished
  • Keep work area neat, clean and organized
  • Work in a safe, efficient manner in a fast paced team environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent Math, Reading and Writing skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work independently on assigned duties
  • Adaptable to sudden changes and willing to learn new skills
  • Knowledge of HMI screens, computers, and forklift is a plus
  • Be a dependable member of a team
  • Ability to work in Cold and Warm environments
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Must adhere to and follow all Safety, GMP, other quality guidelines
  • Must report all food safety problems to immediate supervisor or designated replacement
  • Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs

Schedule:

  • Night Shift 5:30pm to 6:00am Monday – Friday, frequent Saturdays
