Overview

As engineers, architects, construction/program managers, environmental professionals and beyond, we play a significant role in shaping our communities through the services we provide. Junior Engineers support our national service lines in multiple specialty areas: gas line and facility solutions, electricity transmission, electricity distribution, or civil/structural. Motivated, goal-oriented engineers in this role contribute to teams in the delivery of mechanical systems, electrical systems and substation solutions through planning, engineering, design, construction and utility industry consulting on complex projects for local and national clients.
Responsibilities
  • Increase skills as a responsive, proactive, solutions-oriented professional, working collaboratively within a team environment
  • Through exposure to management of projects, learn how to meet client expectations for technical excellence, budget and schedule
  • Build skills to follow and be responsive to project budgets and schedules; learn to identify departures from the project's defined scope of work
  • Learn to coordinate all design work with other team disciplines
  • Increase proficiency in relevant design, modeling, and pole-loading software applications such as AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil3D, Revit, AutoCAD Electrical Design Suite; MicroStation with Substation or Plant add-in, ETAP, SKM, MFAD, LPILE, or Cymcap, as well as business applications including Microsoft Office
  • Design, manage plan production by staff, and assist in production of construction documents, including plans, specifications, calculations, and quantity takeoffs
  • Learn best practices in interpreting and applying client, company, and field standards as needed
  • Increase knowledge of local codes and industry standards
  • Increase knowledge of appropriate electrical, building mechanical, and plumbing systems
  • Exposure to working in teams on many different types of projects that develop service line expertise:
    • Gas Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Civil Engineering
    • Structural Engineering

Qualifications
  • Positive attitude, ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Valid driver's license
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field such as Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • EIT license within two (2) years in this position
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • 1-2 years' experience in consulting engineering or utility design, with some level of experience in an appropriate field of engineering
Desired Qualifications:
  • PE or SE certification, depending on service line specialty
  • Proficiency with appropriate design, engineering, and modeling software application such as Revit, AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD Electrical Design Suite; MicroStation with Substation or Plant add-in, ETAP, SKM, MFAD, LPILE, or Cymcap, as well as some knowledge of PLS-CADD for electrical roles
  • Master's degree in an appropriate field, such as Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Business Administration
  • For gas roles, a technical background in materials, machine design, structures, fluids, or thermodynamics is preferred
  • Some knowledge of Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project scheduling software
Metrics:
  • Evaluations based in part on timely, accurate completion of assigned work
  • Attends in-house seminars and educational opportunities outside of the offices
Physical Demands:
  • This position requires sitting for extensive periods of time
  • Must be able to visually interpret complex drawings

The pay range for this California position is $84,000- $85,000 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per California Senate Bill 1162.
