Location: Greater Milwaukee Area
Salary: $60,000 - $85,000
Position Overview
We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects throughout the Greater Milwaukee area. This role works closely with Project Managers, field leadership, vendors, subcontractors, and customers to assist with project coordination, documentation, scheduling, procurement, and financial tracking.
The ideal candidate has approximately 1 year of experience in construction, project coordination, mechanical contracting, or a related field and is looking to grow into a Project Manager position. Key Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers in coordinating commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects from kickoff through closeout
- Support project scheduling, planning, and day-to-day execution activities
- Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and project documentation
- Coordinate material and equipment procurement with vendors and suppliers
- Monitor delivery schedules and communicate updates to field teams and project stakeholders
- Help maintain project budgets, cost tracking, and financial reporting
- Support invoice processing, billing activities, and project forecasting
- Review project drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Coordinate with superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and customers to ensure project milestones are achieved
- Attend project meetings and document action items and follow-up requirements
- Assist with permitting, inspections, and project closeout documentation
- Participate in jobsite visits to monitor project progress and support project teams
- Ensure project documentation is maintained in accordance with company standards
- Promote compliance with company safety policies and OSHA requirements
Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience in construction, project coordination, project engineering, estimating, or mechanical contracting
- Basic understanding of commercial construction processes and project delivery methods
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications preferred
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with internal teams, vendors, subcontractors, and customers
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to local project sites as needed
Preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field
- Internship or co-op experience with a mechanical contractor, general contractor, or construction management firm
- Exposure to HVAC, plumbing, piping, electrical, or industrial construction projects
- Experience with construction management or ERP software platforms
- Desire to advance into a Project Manager role and build a long-term career within the construction industry
