Overview
Aerospace Systems Engineer - Modeling & Analysis
Job Location: Suitland, Maryland
Job Status: Full Time
Clearance: TS/SCI
Salary: $110,000 - $190,000
SEG is seeking a skilled aerospace systems engineer to be part of our threat missile modeling and simulation team. SEG provides an intellectually stimulating environment with excellent opportunities for technical and leadership growth. This position supports SEG's Aerospace Branch which develops trajectory models and representations of adversary missile systems.
This role requires expertise in analyzing test data, designing models, and programming software. This position involves collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams, including systems engineering, kill vehicle integration, and mission planning, to design and verify resilient communication architectures.
Salary is commensurate with experience and education.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • Candidates must be US citizens with an active DOD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI.
  • Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related degree (advanced degrees preferred).
  • Candidates must possess at least 6 years of work experience in an engineering field (2 with a MS, 0 with a PhD).
  • Experience in computer science and/or software engineering.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Technical writing and communications: ability to convey complex information with clear and precise language, verbal and written, to a wide range of audiences while utilizing a variety of templates and formats.
  • Proficiency in analysis and demonstrated curiosity/desire to understand.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • Candidates should possess an active DoD TS/SCI clearance.
  • Candidates should possess a Master of Science or PhD with research and/or laboratory experience.
  • Experience with RF and IR seekers.
  • Proficiency with Matlab and/or Python.
  • Familiarity with collection, analysis, dissemination, and application of all-source intelligence and data.
  • 2+ years of systems engineering experience.
  • Engineering design experience - work experience or capstone project.
  • Familiarity with DoD HPC systems, accesses and scripting languages, with the ability to submit batch jobs, collect data, and transmit data.
  • Experience with developing and/or running Acquisition Threat Engineering Packages (ATEPs).

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and execute tests, analyze data to discover issues in test results, verification & validation of models, documentation of results.
  • Explore and explain anomalies in test results and make real-world conclusions from tests with limited information.
  • Conduct in-depth research and learn new engineering concepts.
  • Troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Data reduction and visualization - convert raw data into usable and digestible formats for SMEs to review and assess.
  • Act as liaison between analysts, SMEs, engineers, and scientists with awareness of data transfer limitations, computing facilities, and what tasks must be performed at specific facilities.
