Role Overview:
Mechanical Assembler I is an entry level position. The purpose for an operator at this level is to gain a basic understanding of deburring and air grinding operations. Operators must obtain a basic level knowledge in order to deburr and clean parts in a manner necessary to produce precision parts with direct supervision by a more senior Mechanical Assembler with Deburring Certification (level II or above). Follows established standard work under general supervision in efforts to obtain certification within 120 days. The operator will typically refer problems or deviations to more experiences operators including Lead Technicians, Supervisors, or engineers.
What You Will Do:
  • Learn how to maintain and operate deburring tools.
  • Learn how to read blueprints in order to verify work was completed properly.
  • Accurately complete production documentation and performs necessary labor transactions.
  • Support and follow all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality, and CI functions as set by your leader and position.
  • Actively participates in the Continuous Improvement process as well as safety related activities
  • Works under immediate supervision. Normally receives detailed instructions on all work.
  • Develops basic job skills and learns company policies and procedures to complete routine tasks.
  • Tasks are routine/ repetitive in nature, requiring limited judgment. Has little or no role in decision-making.
  • Operates hand tools, electrical tools, hand cutters, measuring equipment and light equipment.
  • Over 40 hours is required as scheduled to meet business needs.
  • All other duties as assigned including working extended shifts/overtime as required by the business.
  • Willingness to work nonstandard hours
  • Some Holiday hours may be required based on business need

Qualifications We Require:
  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Know how to read and understand prints
  • Basic computer proficiency (e-mail, print documents, internet) and ability to learn how to operate a computer to access prints and/or specified work instructions.
  • Basic shop math including knowledge of Geometric Tolerances
  • Basic proficiency with identifying, analyzing and resolving problems
  • Experience with various inspection tools needed for the job
  • Experience with tools (ball burr, flame bit etc.) needed for each job
