Entry Level Aerospace Deburring Jobs (NOW HIRING)

POSITION SUMMARY:

With direct guidance in a team environment, responsible for operating one or more production machines working from blueprints, sketches, and route sheets. Contributes to lean initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs.

Posting Specific Bullets: 

• Perform CNC and secondary machining operations - Grinder; Lathe; Robot

• Operate Manual Lathe

• Operate Hydraulic Press

• This position will begin in Motor Room and then support both Motor Room and Impeller cell as needed once proper training has been completed. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Makes simple set ups and performs repetitive machine operations (including reworking parts) such as cutting, shaping, deburring, forming, drilling, and reaming parts, where the materials, tooling, and sequence of operations have been preplanned and established. Makes minor machine adjustments and reports improper functioning or cutting action for correction.

Performs operations such as tapping, spotfacing, chamfering, countersinking, and counterboring to close tolerances.

Aligns and fastens parts using standard fixtures and established methods.

Make basic setups, which may include multiple work piece stations, utilizing custom and standard holding devices.

Adjusts feeds, speeds, and depth of cut to machine quality parts, per documentation. Removes burrs, sharp edges, tool marks, or other irregularities from machined parts.

Inspects finished parts for conformance to specifications by visual examination and utilizes precision measuring instruments such as gages, calipers, micrometers, comparators, and surface plate techniques. May be required to use coordinate measuring machine (CMM). Ensures equipment is calibrated in accordance with schedule.

Routinely maintains equipment to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability specific to division requirements.

Accurately and regularly performs all statistical process control (SPC) specific to division requirements.

Actively participates in lean initiatives by identifying and providing suggestions on areas for improvement. Applies lean concepts and tools in work area.

Observes all company policies and procedures, including safety rules, and maintains a clean and orderly work area.

May work with various chemicals and epoxies as needed. 

Performs other related responsibilities, as requested.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must have high school diploma or equivalent. May require specialized certifications specific to division requirements (i.e. certified operator). 

2. At least one year general or related machining experience

3. Reads, understands, and follows blueprints, complex drawing, engineering specifications, routings, inspection plans and informal written or verbal instructions. 

4. Has working knowledge of machine shop mathematics, may include trigonometry.

5. Handles multiple tasks with changing priorities to meet customer demands. 

6. Effectively applies lean initiatives.

7. May be required to work overtime both during the week and on the weekend. 

8. Demonstrates effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment.

9. Interprets reports and uses job specific software applications. Able to use employee selfservice systems to access online information and use specialized automated systems (i.e., PMR, TORS, email).

10. Effectively demonstrates team member competencies and participates in goal setting, performance feedback, and selfdevelopment activities.

  TYPICAL MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time. The team member is required to demonstrate manual dexterity and use hands to operate machinery.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to distinguish colors without assistance. Also expected of the team member is regular attendance, and the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others. May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
