What You Will Do
Under direct supervision, perform duties related to the safe closure of open mines, conducts detailed field surveys and additional responsibilities in support of the Historic Mine-Openings Safety Program (HMOSP).
 
  • Use GPS Instrumentation for conducting accurate field surveys, data collection and verification
  • Assist with the safe closure of historic mine-openings (adits, shafts and other abandoned mine features) using various technologies
  • Operate pickup trucks with trailers and other equipment such as UTV
  • Drive/hike to remote locations over rough terrain and conduct labor intensive work
  • Assist with construction and work site preparation activities
  • Assist with preparation of samples for analysis using appropriate techniques
  • Perform minor maintenance and assist operations with support activities
What You Bring To Freeport
  • Must have and maintain an unrestricted and valid driver's license
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 90% of the time, including travel for three (3) week periods
  • Must be able to hike three to five (3-5) miles per day in rugged terrain
  • Must be able to carry loads over 50 lbs. in a backpack
  • Ability to work in various conditions and environments
  • Ability to successfully work in a team environment
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in training and during the normal course of completing assigned duties
  • Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

Preferred

  • High Schooldiploma or GED
  • Prior work experience with fabrication and masonry
  • Experience with outdoor activities
  • Entry level knowledge of carpentry and or masonry techniques
  • Experience with safely operating pickup trucks towing trailers
  • Prior work experience in an operating mine
  • Familiarity with hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to read and understand maps

The estimated pay range for this role is currently$21.00 - $27.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
