Entry Associate Attorney information
What types of cases or legal matters does an entry associate attorney typically handle in their first year?
What is the difference between Entry Associate Attorney vs Paralegal?
| Aspect | Entry Associate Attorney | Paralegal |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Juris Doctor (JD), bar admission | Associate's degree or paralegal certificate |
| Work Environment | Law firms, corporate legal departments, government agencies | Law firms, legal departments, courts |
| Job Responsibilities | Legal research, drafting documents, client consultations, court appearances | Legal research, document preparation, case organization, client communication |
The main difference between an Entry Associate Attorney and a Paralegal lies in their credentials and responsibilities. Entry Associate Attorneys are licensed lawyers with a JD and perform legal work that requires a law license, including court appearances. Paralegals assist attorneys with legal tasks but do not require a law license. Both roles work in similar environments but serve different functions within legal teams.
