Position Overview:

The Instant Financial Issuance as a Service (IFIaaS) Cloud Service consists of various components, such as web services, application servers, and databases, all hosted in an on-premises environment.We are seekingaSeniorPlatformArchitect who ishands-onand deeplyinvolved in the design and evolution of a modern,onpremisesSaaS platform. The platform is built using distributed microservices, runs primarily onVMwarehostedWindows workloads, and is transitioning toward containerized architectures. This role focuses on designing and validating systems that meet strict requirements for availability (99.9%), scalability, performance, and security.

In this role, you will work directly withengineering,infrastructure, andtheCloudOpsteam to designplatformarchitecture,definedeployment patterns, and solvecomplexsystem-levelchallenges.You will activelyparticipateinarchitectural design sessions, review and influence implementation details, and helptroubleshoot and remediate systemic issuesin production environments.TheSeniorPlatformArchitect is expected to deeply understand how the platform is built andoperated, and to apply that knowledge to improve reliability, resilience, andlong-term maintainability of the system.

This role is ideal for an architect who enjoys staying close to technology, contributing to real design decisions, and shaping how distributed systems are built and run in a modernonpremenvironment.

Responsibilities:

  • Own theavailability architectureacross compute, network, storage, data, and app tiers to exceed99.9%service availability

  • Designfault domains(host, rack, cluster, site) and enforce placement strategies to ensure resilience and predictable failure behaviorandblast radiuslimits

  • Eliminatesingle points of failureacross compute, storage, networking, ingress, identity, secrets, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Designgraceful degradation strategiesat the infrastructure leveltomaintaincore functionality during overload or partial failure

  • Defineperformance budgets, SLOs, and capacity headroomfor peak traffic and failure scenarios

  • DefineSLOs, SLIsand error budgetsand ensure they inform deployment, scaling, and incident response

  • DriveinfrastructureascodeandGitOpspractices to ensure consistent, repeatable environments

  • Define and enableprogressive deployment models(canary, blue/green, rolling) with automated rollback

  • Buildplatformand CI/CDcapabilitiesthat directly improve(deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate, mean time to recover MTTR)

  • Embedsecurity by design, includingzerotrustnetworking,mTLS, secrets management, andleastprivilegeaccess

  • Establishstandard observabilityfor metrics, logs, traces, and health signals across the platform

  • Enableoperationaland incident responsereadiness, including runbooks, failure testing, and automated remediation

  • Act as thetechnical authorityfor platform architecture decisions andtradeoffs

  • Partner with engineering teams toonboard servicesand ensure alignment with platform standards

  • Provide reference architectures, patterns, and guidance that improvedeveloper experience and delivery speed.

BasicQualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or equivalentcombination of education and experience

  • 8+ years ofrelated experienceas aPlatform/Solutions/ System Design Architect,Software Engineer,SeniorDevOpsEngineeror a role in similar capacity

  • Proven experience designingdistributed systemswith an emphasis onavailability, scalability, resilience, and performance

  • Demonstratedexpertiseinmicroservices architecture, API design, andservicetoservice communication patterns

  • Strong knowledge ofsystem design principlesincluding fault tolerance, capacity planning, dependency isolation, and failure handling

  • Experience leading or contributing toarchitecture reviews, technical design discussions, andcrossteaminitiatives

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document and explain complex system designs

Compensation Range:


In the US: The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $149,578-$219,381 per year (in the primary posting location). Actual compensation will be determined based on geographic location, education, skills and experience. This position is also eligible for the company's discretionary annual incentive plan. In addition to your pay, Entrust offers eligible colleagues and their dependents comprehensive health and well-being programs which include medical, vision, dental, a generous 401(k) matching contribution, life and disability insurance, mental health coaching, virtual fitness programs, paid personal time off plus 12 paid holidays, parental leave and education reimbursement.
