Job description

ENTRUST Solutions Group is seeking an experienced Supervisor / Department Lead to oversee Large Commercial electric projects supporting CPS Energy. This role combines hands-on technical leadership, project oversight, and people leadership for a specialized team delivering complex, high-impact large commercial and industrial work. This is a hybrid role. Candidate must be located within 100 miles of San Antonio.
The Supervisor / Department Lead serves as a key liaison between ENTRUST project teams and CPS Energy, ensuring projects are executed with high technical quality, strong communication, and consistent standards across the Large Commercial group.
In this role, you'll have the opportunity to lead and shape a specialized Large Commercial Electric Distribution design team of engineers and technical leads. You'll use your combined technical expertise, leadership, and client engagement to have a direct impact on quality, consistency, and client satisfaction for complex CPS projects. In this highly visible role, you'll have direct impact and influence within a critical and growing area of ENTRUST's utility work.
What You'll Do
Department & Team Leadership
  • Lead a Large Commercial CPS team currently consisting of four engineers and technical/engineering leads.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, technical mentorship, and professional guidance to team members.
  • Balance people leadership responsibilities with active participation in technical and project-related decision-making.
  • Support coordination of workload across the team, helping maintain visibility into priorities, schedules, and capacity.

Technical Leadership & QA/QC
  • Provide technical direction and oversight for planning, design, and engineering activities associated with CPS large commercial projects.
  • Perform and coordinate design reviews, QA/QC activities, and quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with CPS standards and ENTRUST expectations.
  • Act as a senior technical escalation point for complex, high-risk, or sensitive projects requiring experienced judgment.
  • Guide teams on engineering standards, constructability considerations, and best practices for large commercial and industrial customer projects.

Project Oversight & Client Engagement
  • Maintain awareness of overall project status across the Large Commercial portfolio, ensuring progress and deliverables remain on track.
  • Support client communication and reporting, including routine updates and engagement with CPS Energy stakeholders.
  • Serve as a customer-facing leader on select projects, particularly those that are escalated or require a seasoned point of contact.
  • Partner with project teams to support resolution of issues related to scope, schedule, quality, or coordination.

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting large commercial or industrial electric utility projects.
  • Direct experience with CPS Energy electric service standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, including QA/QC and design review.
  • Prior experience leading or supervising engineers, designers, or technical staff.

Nice to Have:
  • Background in underground engineering and/or gas engineering.
  • Familiarity with relevant tools and systems, including:
    • MicroStation
    • GIS
    • Design QA/QC workflows
    • BCA
    • SAP
    • Work Manager
