Position Title: Chief Financial Officer
Location: Durham, NC (Company HQ); not a remote position
Position Summary:
Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is based at Bell and Howell's Durham, NC HQ office, with operations throughout the U.S. and Canada. This position is a member of the Company's Executive team. The CFO has overall responsibility for serving as the principal financial leader for the Company, by providing leadership and proactively directing the Company's financial strategies to link with the strategic operating plans of the business. The CFO will often collaborate with the Board of Directors and Private Equity Investors.
Position Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Build, lead, and scale a high-performing organization which includes Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Contract Administration, Information Technology, Procurement, and Shipping/Logistics. Foster a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement while developing leadership capabilities across the organization. Serve as an enterprise leader, partnering cross-functionally to align financial strategy with business objectives and drive operational excellence.
Financial Planning and Analysis: Lead the financial planning process, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning, to drive strategic decision-making and sustainable growth. Provide forward-looking insights, scenario modeling, and performance analysis to the CEO, Board, and executive team, enabling informed capital allocation and execution against key business objectives.
Cash Flow and Asset Management: Oversee the cash flow strategy, capital allocation, and liquidity planning to support operational needs and long-term growth. Optimize working capital, manage financial risk, and ensure efficient deployment of assets to maximize returns and support strategic initiatives.
Financial and Tax Reporting: Prepare and review income statements, balance sheets, and other financial reporting requirements; ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and regulations. Lead all tax reporting required by the Company.
Risk Management: Establish and lead the enterprise risk management framework, ensuring identification, assessment, and mitigation of financial and operational risks. Oversee internal controls, compliance, and audit processes while providing transparency and risk insight to the CEO and Board.
Strategic Leadership: Serve as a key strategic partner to the CEO and Board of Directors, driving enterprise financial strategy, capital allocation, and long-term value creation. Lead evaluation of investment opportunities, capital structure optimization, and growth initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives and private equity value creation goals.
Stakeholder Relations: Serve as the primary financial liaison to investors, lenders, Board members, auditors, and regulatory agencies. Build and maintain strong, credible relationships while delivering transparent, timely, and strategic financial communications.
Operational Efficiency: Drive the financial performance by leading cost optimization, margin expansion, and profitability initiatives. Establish and oversee key performance metrics to evaluate business performance, inform strategic decision-making, and ensure execution against EBITDA and value creation objectives.
Education and Experience:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred. CPA, CFA, or CMA strongly preferred
Experience: Proven success as a CFO or senior financial executive within a private equity-backed organization, with a demonstrated track record of driving EBITDA growth, enterprise value creation, and successful exit outcomes.
Technical Skills: Strong command of financial systems, ERP platforms, product cost accounting and advanced analytics tools, with the ability to leverage data to drive strategic decision-making. Demonstrates experience utilizing digital finance technologies, including automation and emerging AI capabilities, to enhance forecasting, reporting, and operational efficiency across the enterprise.
Leadership, Communication, and Analytical Skills: Demonstrates exceptional decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical capabilities, with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights that guide executive-level strategy. Possesses effective communication, collaboration, and influencing skills, with a proven ability to engage and build credibility with the CEO, Board of Directors, private equity investors, lenders, and key external stakeholders, driving alignment and informed decision-making across the enterprise.
Travel:
This position requires some travel in the United States and Canada.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.

  • Ability to hear and talk.
  • Ability to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
