Job description

Student Employee - Financial Aid Specialist
Position Summary:
The Student Financial Aid Specialist provides front-line support to students, families, and other student services by assisting with financial aid and scholarship processes, answering questions, and supporting
daily office operations. This position develops professional communication, customer service, and administrative skills while helping students navigate the financial aid process in a welcoming and confidential environment. In addition to fulfilling this purpose, each employee continuously strives to bring about the mission of Ensign College, which is to develop capable and trusted disciples of Jesus Christ who are leaders in their homes, the Church, and their communities.
Hours: 19 hours a week during the semester, scheduled typically during the hours of 8 am to 5 pm
Monday through Friday. The starting wage for all student employees is $14.00 per hour, with the possibility of $.25 rate increase each semester of continued work based on merit.
Specific Summary of Duties:
  • Provide exceptional customer service in person, by phone, and through email.
  • Assist students with general financial aid and scholarship questions.
  • Review, organize, and track financial aid and scholarship documents while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Support the completion of scholarship and financial aid processes.
  • Participate in outreach events in partnership with Admissions and Student Leadership.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA and institutional policies.
  • Utilize office software and financial aid systems to complete assigned tasks.
  • Manage daily office responsibilities, prioritize assignments, and contribute to an efficient and collaborative team environment.
  • Escalate complex student concerns to professional staff when appropriate.
  • Lead and complete additional projects as assigned.

Job Qualification:
  • Currently enrolled as an Ensign College student taking at least six credits and in good academic standing.
  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills and confidence.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, organized, and detail oriented.
  • Ability to solve problems, ask questions, and work both independently.
  • Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and able to learn new software quickly.

Student Employment Requirements
All student employees accept as conditions of employment that they will:
  • Be currently enrolled as an Ensign College student taking at least 6 credits (3 per block) and in good academic standing.
  • Refrain from behavior or expression that seriously and adversely affects the college mission or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  • Act in accordance with the Church Educational System Honor Code and the Dress and Grooming Principles and Expectations.
  • Comply with all college policies and procedures.
  • Commit to bring about the purposes of Ensign College.
  • Maintain these conditions of employment on an ongoing basis.
