The Human Resources Generalist plays a critical role in supporting the daily operations of the Human Resources function through the administration of HR policies, programs, and practices that align with business objectives and organizational priorities. This position serves as a trusted resource for employees and managers within the assigned region, fostering positive employee experience and ensuring compliance with applicable employment laws, regulations, and company policies.

Function in the Job

Job Function
  • Administer and support core HR functions including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding.
  • Perform general HR work and/or projects as appropriate and participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Schedule and ensure completion of pre-employment testing for new hires.
  • Assist with submitting pre-employment background checks in accordance with company policy.
  • Process personnel action forms, ensuring proper approvals are received.
  • Submit garnishments to payroll provider for processing.
  • Responsible for reviewing and ensuring timesheets are approved timely for payroll submission.
  • Assist with bonus, incentive, and commission submissions for payment.
  • Assist in hiring process by coordinating job postings in accordance with State law.
  • Maintain personnel files in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Maintain and update required employment documentation, as needed.
  • Assist with preparing documentation for employment inquiries, audits, or other reviews as needed.
  • Administer new hire onboarding for assigned region, including E-Verify submission.
  • Administer union-related billing processes and ensure timely and accurate payment of union obligations.
  • Partake in the orientation process by reviewing benefits and policies with new hires and follow-up to ensure timely insurance enrollment.
  • Assist the Regional HR Manager with coaching, counseling, and guiding managers before the execution of employee disciplinary actions.
  • Act as Wellness Program Champion for assigned region, attending meetings and distributing information.
  • Act as Reliance Cares Program lead for assigned region, attending meetings and distributing information.
  • Provide coverage and assist HR team as needed.
  • Travel between locations to provide adequate support and HR presence.
  • Responsible for assisting Regional HR Manager with conducting thorough and impartial investigations as needed.
  • Respond to employee and manager inquiries.
  • Responsible for adhering to safety processes and protocols.
  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.

Required Skills
  • 2-3 years of relevant Human Resources experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field required.
  • Prior experience in the recruitment process preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required.
  • Ability to exercise discretion when handling sensitive/confidential employment information required.
  • Understanding of broad concepts and principles pertinent to Human Resources management operationsrequired.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • Ability to influence and build relationships without direct authority required.
  • Ability to travel by car and air required.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including analysis, knowledge andexperience, and judgment required.
  • Strong computer proficiency and knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), as well asgeneral HR software platforms and internet-based search engines required.
