Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Rest Area Attendant is responsible for cultivating and caring for landscaping and grounds and maintaining the rest area's cleanliness to ensure company standards are correctly maintained while using the appropriate supplies and equipment in a responsible and efficient manner.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for completing the on-site custodial and grounds contract work at the assigned location site and ensuring contract specifications are met. This includes but is not limited to cleaning bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning lunch/break rooms, collecting and removing trash, dusting, cleaning windows, climbing up ladders to clean, lawn mowing, raking, leaf blowing, picking up trash, grounds upkeep, trimming, etc.
  • Assist with stripping and waxing floors and carpet cleaning if requested in the contract.
  • Responsible for informing the Supervisor of any maintenance repair or service required immediately upon discovering the problem.
  • Responsible for providing feedback to the Supervisor concerning success/problems associated with the contract.
  • Responsible for providing reports, paperwork, and timecards to the Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the health and safety of staff and all visitors at the assigned site.
  • Ensuring that all hazardous materials/chemicals at the site are used properly and that all hazardous materials are disposed of as per proper procedures.
  • Maintaining all required safety and first aid supplies; contacting the Supervisor to order replacements, as needed.
  • Utilizing protective equipment, as needed, when performing the job (i.e., gloves, back braces, face shields, etc.).
  • Responsible for maintaining supplies and custodial equipment according to OSHA standards and reporting any equipment damage to the Supervisor.
  • Responsible for starting work when scheduled, dressing neatly and appropriately, and meeting job requirements.
  •  Responsible for maintaining satisfactory attendance and punctuality based on E.Q.U.I.P. policies and contract requirements.
  • Responsible for assisting the Supervisor, Area Manager, and other applicable E.Q.U.I.P. supervisory staff with all other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Cut/Mow lawn using hand, power, or riding mower, trim, and edge around walks, flower beds, and walls.
  • Plant flowers.
  • Apply fertilizer to the ground to enhance growth.
  • Remove stumps, fills holes, and apply grass seed as needed.
  • Remove all landscaping debris.
  • Cut down tree limbs that are posing a danger.
  • Trim shrubs and pull weeds.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance procedures on equipment utilized in groundskeeping under supervisor guidance.
  • Rake, mulch, and prune the grounds as needed.
  • Water plants and grass.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • One year of relevant experience.
  • The job requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable.
  • Read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, techniques, skills, materials, and landscaping methods.
  • Ability to determine the tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate a riding mower, weed eater, grass edger, chain saw, stump grinder, hedge trimmer, leaf blower, wood chipper, lift, pressure washer, and other basic hand and power tools.
  • The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and legs.
  • The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • The ability to lift between 25-50 lbs.
  • The ability to stand and walk for extended periods in inclement weather.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to operate various pieces of large equipment by company procedures and safety regulations.
  • The ability to make repetitive movements.
  • The ability to work in awkward postures.
