Position Overview

The Engineering Manager at Alcrete is responsible for leading the Estimating & Design department to ensure the technical and commercial success of our precast solutions. This role moves beyond individual project execution to focus on team leadership, process optimization, and departmental accountability. The manager oversees the workflow from initial takeoff through production hand-off, ensuring every project meets Alcrete's standards for accuracy, quality, and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage      and mentor the Estimating & Design Engineers. Oversee daily workloads,      provide technical guidance, and conduct performance reviews to ensure      professional growth and high output.
  • Standardize      the "Takeoff-to-Hand-off" process. Monitor departmental      timelines to ensure project submissions and production drawings are      delivered on schedule to the Project Management team.
  • Review      and approve high stakes estimates and complex production drawings. Ensure      all team outputs align with blueprint requirements and structural      integrity standards.
  • Work      closely with Sales Engineering and Production leadership to identify      capacity constraints, resolve design-to-manufacturing issues, and improve      the accuracy of the estimating model.
  • Oversee      the technical evaluation of significant change orders and design      modifications, ensuring the commercial impact is captured and communicated      to the customer and internal stakeholders.
  • Serve      as the functional lead for engineering software (AutoCAD, Titan ERP).      Drive the adoption of best practices and implement updates to improve      design efficiency.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's      degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Construction Engineering      preferred.
  • 5+      years in precast, construction materials, or a related engineering field,      with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead engineer role.
  • Expert-level      knowledge of AutoCAD (2D/3D) and professional experience with Titan ERP or      similar construction-specific ERP systems.
  • Industry      Knowledge: Deep understanding of civil, architectural, and structural      plans, specifically as they relate to precast concrete manufacturing and      installation.
  • Proven      ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple competing      priorities, and maintain a culture of teamwork and accountability.
  • Strong      communication skills for high-level customer interaction and internal      cross-functional negotiation.
