Summary: In this role, you will play a key part in the success of an engineering team, balancing technical and leadership responsibilities. You will manage the software development lifecycle (SDLC) of complex software solutions, ensuring excellence in design, development, and deployment. You will support and continually improve team dynamics by promoting a healthy work environment, offering constructive feedback, resolving conflicts, and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. You will guide modernization efforts across enterprise applications while supporting critical healthcare technology solutions and driving technical excellence across the development organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the architecture and design of scalable, high-performance software systems.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing mindset, continuous integration, deployment practices (CI/CD), and application security.
  • Collaborate with architects, product managers, and other stakeholders to align technical decisions with business goals and contribute to strategy discussions.
  • Participate in regular retrospectives to review processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Coach, mentor, and serve as a direct point of contact for engineers while bridging technical execution and team leadership.
  • Lead the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools into the development lifecycle, exploring solutions such as automated code generation and intelligent testing frameworks.
  • Interface with Product Owners, Delivery Leads, Architecture teams, Practice Managers, CloudOps, and Security teams regarding project status, progress, and potential risks.
  • Guide modernization initiatives involving legacy .NET applications, API development, and cloud-enabled solutions.
  • Oversee application design, development, integration, and support activities across enterprise software platforms.
Qualifications:
  • Relevant degree preferred.
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field highly preferred.
  • 7 or more years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience leading software engineering teams and delivering enterprise-scale applications throughout the full software development lifecycle required.
  • Strong hands-on experience with C#, .NET Framework, ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Web API, RESTful APIs, and SQL Server required.
  • Experience developing and supporting web-based applications using JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, XML, and related web technologies required.
  • Experience utilizing Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server (TFS), source control, and Agile development methodologies required.
  • Experience designing scalable software architectures and integrating distributed systems required.
  • Skilled in modern software development practices including CI/CD pipelines, application security, automated testing, and code review standards required.
  • Experience with Entity Framework, ADO.NET, WCF, and service-oriented architecture principles preferred.
  • Experience with Azure cloud services preferred.

Estimated Hiring Range: At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances.
