Job description

Agility's commercially deployed humanoids operate alongside teams in warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and distribution centers-tackling physically demanding and repetitive tasks while enabling workers to focus on higher-value work. With industry-leading safety standards and years of proven deployment data, we're pioneering a new era of automation that enhances human potential.
About the Team
The Engineering Support Group is a highly adaptable, cross-functional resource providing high-level, hands-on technical assistance, debugging, prototype support, and test validation. We are a "can-do" team that goes above and beyond to assist multiple groups. As the Engineering Support Supervisor (Fremont), you will lead this team in the Fremont office serving as both a primary technical contributor and a mentor who fosters excellence, creativity, and collaboration.
About the Role
Engineering Support Supervisors in this role are members of the HW Engineering Department, reporting to and aligning with the Engineering Support Manager. You will serve as a hybrid leader and hands-on contributor. You are tasked with overseeing the day-to-day operations and task allocation for the team while simultaneously performing advanced technical support, testing, and debugging on complex electro-mechanical systems. You are the "boots on the ground" lead who ensures projects are executed to standard, roadblocks are cleared, and the team is continuously growing in their capabilities.
About the Work
  • Team Leadership: Assign and oversee daily tasks for Engineering Technicians, ensuring project goals are met with high-quality outcomes.
  • Mentorship: Provide hands-on training, feedback, and career guidance to technicians. Assist in creating and maintaining cross-functional training modules, work instructions, and best practices.
  • Advanced Contribution: Perform complex assembly, bring-up, testing, and debugging of new components and prototypes.
  • Operational Oversight: Act as the first point of escalation for technical or resource conflicts. Prioritize tasks across multiple departments to manage shifting project timelines.
  • System Ownership: Become a subject matter expert on new products. Update and maintain engineering documentation, test procedures, and assembly instructions.
  • Failure Analysis: May assist and contribute to the diagnosis and documentation of Failure Modes and Root Causes, guiding team members through analytical processes.
  • Collaborative Partnership: Work closely with engineering personnel to ensure Support Group activities align with broader company goals. Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Engineering Robot Fleet: Maintain and repair Engineering Development assets. Maximize robot availability and functionality. Drive process improvements that drive down the MTTR of ENG Fleet assets.
  • Team Collaboration: Communicate improvements, resource gaps and knowledge across the Engineering Support department locations to help ensure all sites are aligned.
  • People Management: Experience leading direct reports through the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, performance reviews, goal setting, and coaching.

About You
  • Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience with electronics prototyping, soldering, and complex system debug. You are comfortable reading PCBA schematics and wire assembly drawings. You are also comfortable in ambiguous situations when little to no documentation exists.
  • Leadership/Mentoring: Proven ability to lead a team, delegate effectively, and mentor others. You are comfortable providing constructive feedback and helping others level up their skills.
  • Adaptability: Ability to "change gears" daily-managing team priorities one moment and performing deep-dive technical rework the next-without losing focus.
  • Communication: Ability to bridge the gap between high-level engineering objectives and day-to-day technician tasks. You communicate risks early and often.
  • Hands-on Skills: Experience with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic tools, 3D Printer operation/ Maintenance and engineering lab equipment (Power Supplies, DMM, O-Scopes, etc.).
  • Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking skills, especially when working with limited documentation or when verbal instructions are the only source of truth.
  • Tech Stack: LINUX CLI skills and experience with the Atlassian Software Suite (Jira, Confluence) are highly desirable.
  • Attitude: Positive and professional; you lead by example, maintaining a "can-do" attitude even in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.

Education and Experience
  • Typically an AS degree in Electronics Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field, and/or 5+ years of equivalent work experience in an engineering development environment, including 1+ years in a lead or supervisory capacity.

This is an onsite position at our Fremont, CA office. Note: A person in this role will be required to travel sometimes on short notice as assigned. Typical travel availability is 25% as needed.
