As a Transportation Engineering Manager, you will manage and support growth in New Mexico with our Transportation Team and be part of a growing practice focused on meeting our clients’ needs, while also coordinating with internally with senior leadership and developing our next generation of professionals. 

What are the core responsibilities for the role?
  • Build, lead, and manage a team of transportation design  engineers, including roadway, drainage, structures, traffic and utility disciplines
  • Coordinate and work with a team of project managers, design engineers, technicians, and support staff to successfully staff and complete a variety of projects 
  • Manage and forecast workload for the transportation design team 
  • Support an environment for team growth through engagement and identification of opportunities including mentoring junior staff
  • Support succession planning by identifying and helping to develop potential future leaders within the team
  • Manage projects while collaborating with other technical groups including design and analysis of freeways, interstate highways, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, promoting technical excellence while ensuring on-time and with-in budget delivery
  • Prepare studies, reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a wide variety of transportation projects 
  • Support New Mexico in managing and developing client relationships
  • Collaborate with our Business Development Team to identify and pursue new opportunities, including proposal development 

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university 
  • Professional Civil Engineering certification (P.E.), Required
  • 15+ Years of Professional Experience, Required   
  • Engineering and design experience in New Mexico, Preferred
  • Roadway, Traffic, and Drainage experience is a plus 
  • Possess a proven history of project management and business development
  • Knowledge and experience with Bently OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other applicable software common to the field of transportation engineering 
  • Experience with DOT's and Municipal plan preparation procedures and standards 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, staff, and management 
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills
