Job Description

The Plant Engineering Manager role is responsible for providing leadership and organization for Engineering, Maintenance, MRO and Quality with the ultimate objective of maximizing production volume while achieving cost targets.

Duties and responsibilities

The primary job duties and responsibilities are:

  • Manages the capital budget and develops the technical talent in the group.
  • Assures plant facilities and production equipment are properly maintained.
  • Manages the plant Capital Budget.
  • Works with plant technical and operations resources to identify capital deployment opportunities.
  • Submits Capital Asset Request and coordinates of capital activities.
  • Provides engineering support and resources to sustain plant production.
  • Coordinates communication and implementation of manufacturing and technical initiatives.
  • Manages budget, which includes technical group salaries, building and grounds, maintenance materials and utilities.
  • Identifies Capital improvements that will assist the plant in achieving budget.
  • Develops strong cross functional teams to allow for synergy across technical and operations groups.
  • Responsible for hiring, salary administration, performance management including disciplinary actions, employee development and salary administration.
  • Maintains excellent housekeeping standards to maintain a safe work area.
  • Maintains effective communication with operators and plant supervision.
  • Immediately addresses and reports safety issues or hazards.
  • Maintains excellent safety record.
  • Maintains excellent attendance record.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience

Experience required:

  • Demonstrated industrial maintenance experience.
  • At least seven (7) years of experience in a manufacturing environment and engineering field; including successful completion of jobs or similar activities.
  • Demonstrated project and process management skills
  • At least five (5) years of leadership and management experience.
  • Demonstrated self-compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Experience with 6S, A3 and other continuous improvement tools.
  • Experience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS); Maintenance Connection and SAP experience preferred.
