The Company's products solve critical performance bottlenecks in applications spanning thermal, electrical, and structural use cases. Its breakthrough Liquid Metal ZRT thermal interface material is designed to solve thermal chokepoints that are facing the next generation of AI and HPC silicon.

Boston Materials is seeking a highly skilled and hands‑on Mechanical Engineering Manager, Process Equipment, to lead the design, build, and commissioning of specialized production equipment used to manufacture our advanced materials. This is a critical leadership role responsible for setting the strategic direction, managing the budget, and overseeing all aspects of the design, development, installation, commissioning, and sustaining operation of manufacturing and process equipment used to deliver novel thermal interface materials.

Your Responsibilities
  • Define and drive the equipment development and deployment roadmap, ensuring alignment with overall company manufacturing goals and output targets.
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards and best practices for all phases of the equipment lifecycle (concept, design, build, commissioning, sustaining) to ensure high quality, reliability, and safety.
  • Own the technical direction of complex equipment designs, control system architectures, and manufacturing methods to ensure successful scale‑up.
  • Rapidly design and launch pilot‑scale equipment for new process development.
  • Successfully scale and transition from pilot‑scale process equipment to increase MRL to LRIP and HVM.
  • Conspicuously exemplify high standards of safety, organization, communication and documentation.
  • Work effectively in a startup or small company setting. Embrace challenges, adapt to changes, and continuously seek to improve processes and methods.
Your Skills and Expertise
  • 8+ years designing, building, and commissioning custom capital equipment in advanced materials, semiconductor packaging, battery, web converting, or other environments where the fidelity of a chemical or materials process must be preserved by the equipment design.
  • 3+ years of direct management experience leading an engineering team (including performance management, hiring, and budget oversight)
  • Proven track developing first‑of‑kind equipment, from concept to production, and a demonstrated ability to deliver elegant solutions to complex problems.
  • Experience in a Greenfield or Brownfield manufacturing startup environment.
  • Experience implementing FAT, SAT, and equipment qualification standards.
  • Familiarity with power distribution, building infrastructure, and facility interface requirements for production equipment.
  • Working knowledge of 5S principles, design review processes, hazard analysis, and engineering controls to ensure safety and reliability.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a strong drive to refine designs and manufacturing processes for performance and reliability.
