Job Summary
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Mechanical Engineering Co-Op located in our Hollis, NH site.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the student will learn effective concept generation, design for manufacturing, prototyping, and documentation as they apply their engineering knowledge to real world product development problems. A motivated student will thrive in Farm's fast paced environment as they participate in all aspects of the design process.
What a typical day looks like:
  • Work on an exciting variety of medical products ranging from home health wearables to next generation therapy systems to surgical robotics.
  • Conceptualize, investigate, and develop innovative product architectures, parts, mechanisms, and assemblies.
  • Create robust design solutions using CAD (SolidWorks), analysis software, and lab equipment.
  • Assemble and test prototypes to inform design decisions, refinements, and to demonstrate performance.
  • Collaborate with industrial design, user interface, human factors, software, and electrical teams to produce successful product designs.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary brainstorming sessions.
  • Participate in the build of various electro-mechanical assemblies to help develop the assembly process flow and identify any assembly risks that may lead to product failures.
  • Develop assembly and test tools used in the building of products, as well as documenting the procedure and test results.
  • Present to clients and internal teams to communicate design value, tradeoffs, and recommendations.
  • Develop a personal portfolio of work you accomplish during your internship or co-op.

Student qualities/experience we're seeking for this Co-Op assignment:
  • Mechanical Engineering student, Biomedical or Manufacturing/Systems Engineering student with a strong mechanical background.
  • 2nd or 3rd Co-op with applicable experience in mechanical design.
  • Good communicator and skilled at freehand sketching.
  • Demonstrated skills with SolidWorks to resolve mechanical challenges and produce high-quality CAD databases.
  • Engineering simulation software (MathCAD, Excel, FEA, CFD, etc.).
  • Basic machine shop skills (typical shop tools including mill, lathe, etc.).
  • Experience with designing, setting up, running, and documenting experiments in a lab setting.
  • Experience with electromechanical and medical products is a plus.
  • Experience with Tolerance Analysis a plus.

Co-Op Program Requirements:
  • Available to work 40 hours/week (in-person) for the assignment term (Jan - Jun 2027).
  • Currently enrolled in 4-year accredited university studying Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Systems Engineering.
  • 3.0 minimum GPA.
