What you’ll do:

  • Work with product management to understand the business goals for each software release 

  • Manage an outstanding team of software engineers delivering new functionality, updates, and maintenance releases

  • Continuously coordinate with web design, engineering operations/IT, DBAs and QA, engaging teams at the appropriate times

  • Anticipate project blockers and help form remediation plans (before the project and delivery timelines suffer)

  • Provide hands-on help in architecting, designing, implementing, deploying and documenting software applications and services

  • Help establish quality methodologies, metrics, and standards to track and improve the engineering productivity

  • Mentor and recruit top talent for the engineering team.

  • Manage both onshore and offshore team members. 

Who you are:

  • 10+ years of professional experience in software development and 3+ years of management

  • History of successfully delivering continuous software releases using "Agile" development methodologies (such as Scrum)

  • Ability to delve into a technical problem and drive the solution personally, if the need arises

  • Working knowledge of common Web Technologies such as Java, Python, SQL and Springboot

  • Understanding of how AI is affecting the SDLC and how it applies to engineering teams.A solid understanding of the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and its practical application within engineering teams.

  • Working knowledge of enterprise level architectural patterns (client-server, n-tier, etc.), Service Oriented Architectures (SOA), Design Patterns, Database Centric Processing, and data warehousing - as they relate to scalability

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, Master’s degree is a plus

Compensation

Ancestry values pay transparency and equity. As a signatory of the ParityPledge in Support of Women and the ParityPledge in Support of People of Color, we are pleased to share the base salary range for this position: $139,230 - $174,000, with eligibility for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision. Actual salary will depend on location and experience. We will provide detailed compensation data for a specific location during the recruiting process.
