Location: Salt Lake City, UT (In-Office)

Company: Closets by Design – Utah

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Pay Rate: Salary Position

Closets by Design – Utah is a leader in the home organizing industry. We design, manufacture, and install custom storage solutions including closets, garage cabinets, home offices, pantries, and more.

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented, experienced, and motivated Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team. This position is responsible for overseeing the engineering process from sales design through manufacturing, ensuring projects are accurately engineered, efficiently processed, and meet company quality standards.

The Engineering Manager will work closely with Sales, CAD/Engineering, Manufacturing, and Installation teams to identify and resolve design and production issues while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and timely project completion.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the Engineering and CAD/Plan Checking functions
  • Review and approve sales designs for accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with company standards
  • Oversee the creation and finalization of CAD drawings, cutlists, machining requirements, and manufacturing ordersEnsure engineering plans accurately reflect the customer's approved design and installation requirements
  • Identify potential design, material, manufacturing, or installation issues before projects reach production
  • Provide direction, training, and support to Engineering/CAD team members
  • Establish and maintain engineering processes, procedures, and quality standards
  • Monitor engineering workload and ensure projects are completed within required timelines
  • Work closely with Sales to resolve design questions and ensure projects are properly engineered before production and oversee ClosetPro projects.
  • Partner with Manufacturing to ensure designs and cutlists can be produced accurately and efficiently
  • Work with Installation to identify field issues and develop solutions to prevent recurring problems
  • Review and approve vendor orders and project documentation as needed
  • Troubleshoot complex design and engineering issues and determine appropriate solutions
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow, accuracy, efficiency, and profitability
  • Maintain accurate engineering records, documentation, and project information
  • Monitor department performance and address quality, productivity, and process issues
  • Assist with developing and implementing training for engineering and CAD employees
  • Ensure team members follow company policies, procedures, and quality expectations
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and provide engineering support to company leadership
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy, organization, accountability, and attention to detail
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; college or technical training preferred
  • Previous experience in CAD, drafting, engineering, cabinetry, manufacturing, or a related field
  • Previous leadership or management experience preferred
  • Experience with Cabinet Vision or similar CAD/design software
  • Strong understanding of cabinetry, manufacturing processes, materials, and machining preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software and systems
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Sales, Manufacturing, Installation, and other departments
  • Ability to coach, develop, and hold team members accountable to performance expectations
