Department Summary

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Texas (UNT) is a vibrant and expanding part of the College of Engineering, currently recognized as the second-largest department within the college. As a student-focused, public research university, UNT prides itself on fostering a dynamic academic community that emphasizes excellence in education, cutting-edge research, and innovation.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to teach in one or several of our engineering disciplines, including Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, and Engineering Management.
The role involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses aligned with the candidateโ€™s expertise. Opportunities include teaching graduate courses in Engineering Management, and Mechanical and Energy Engineering, and/or undergraduate courses in Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology. This flexibility allows the department to align teaching assignments with the candidate's strengths. Candidates with multiple areas of expertise in Mechanical Engineering will be especially well-suited to this interdisciplinary role.
This position emphasizes teaching and service, with a workload distribution of 70% teaching and 30% service. The selected candidate will engage in service activities that support the departmentโ€™s mission, such as committee participation, student mentoring, and industry outreach. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing educational offerings, contributing to student success, and building strong connections with industry partners.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or in a related field.
Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience, particularly in a relevant engineering discipline. A history of interdisciplinary collaboration is highly desired, with the ability to leverage these partnerships to enhance the academic curriculum and broaden experiential learning opportunities for the students.
