The Hardware Engineering Team provides engineering design & development services to a wide range of products within Raytheon. The Critical Item Production Readiness (CPR) department is dedicated to ensuring that every product we develop is designed with its entire production lifecycle in mind. By integrating principles of manufacturability, assembly, scalability, and cost management, we aim to achieve production excellence while meeting the highest standards of quality and reliability.
We are seeking a Product Development Engineer (PDE) to join our team in McKinney, TX. The PDE section is responsible for internal design activities, providing the expertise that optimizes electronic hardware designs for producibility. The PDE section provides electrical circuit design, strategic program relationships, and assembly services through project leadership to achieve cycle time, technology, and cost goals.
This is an onsite role in McKinney, Texas
What You Will Do
  • Effectively communicate technical knowledge regarding design and manufacturability of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and circuit card assemblies (CCAs).
  • Support the Product Development Engineering team through the application of tools to predict manufacturability performance prior to the program commitment of the design.
  • Tasks include generation of PCB/CCA standard notes, PreCAD data package creation, request mentor parts library elements (symbols and cells), support generation of alternative design solutions to meet or exceed manufacturability and affordability goals.
  • Role includes related technology selection and trade off analysis, performing producibility assessments, interface with other design stakeholders, and interface with fabrication/assembly suppliers. This role also includes working with programs as Subject Matter Experts in PWB/CCAs with product transitions from supplier to supplier and process support as needed.
  • Ability to work in multiple discipline integrated product development team environments to successfully execute tasks and deliver high quality work products.
  • The position requires multi-tasking to support several programs concurrently and may require travel. Must have strong desire to learn and contribute in a teaming environment

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience
  • Must have at least two years of Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) or Printed Wiring Board (PWB) shop process/manufacturing engineering experience
  • Ability to interpret PWB/CCA technical data packages
  • Familiar with Valor NPI automated DFM tool suite.
  • Must be familiar with applicable industry (IPC) design and end product performance standards for circuit card assemblies and printed wiring boards including IPC-6012, IPC-2221, J-STD-001, IPC-7351

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Familiarity with design and producibility tools for printed wiring board and circuit card assembly technologies (Mentor xDM, PCAT, POLAR SPEEDSTACK, VALOR NPI, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Raytheon PWB/CCA technology Manufacturing Design Rules and Guidelines (MDRGs)
  • Prior experience designing, and / or supporting aerospace/defense related products
  • Expertise in component selection for military and aerospace environments
  • IPC CID or CID+ certification

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
