Engineering Coordinator – BOM Specialist 

Sigma Design is a product development, engineering, and manufacturing firm. Position Details:
  • The hiring range for this role is typically between $31.00 and $37.75, with the full range extending to $44.50, based on experience, internal equity, and career progression
  • This position will be Hybrid after first 30 days. 
    After training period, 2-4 days in office per week as needed to support projects
  • Day shift, M-F
 

Primary Function: 

The Engineering Coordinator - BOM Specialist plays a crucial role in coordinating and facilitating various aspects of engineering projects, with a primary focus on Bill of Materials (BOM) management. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, utilizing ERP & PLM systems, and ensuring the efficient flow of information and documentation throughout the engineering project lifecycle.  

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities: 

 Bill of Materials (BOM) Coordination  

  • Create and maintain BOMs within the ERP system, ensuring correct part numbers, quantities, supporting timely release and project schedule. 

  • Audit BOM information for accuracy and completeness  

  • Work with other departments to coordinate and update BOM revisions as needed. 

  • Utilize the ERP system for seamless part item creation, modification, and maintenance. 

  • Generate reports and analyze BOM data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement. 

PLM Admin and Support 

  • Responsible for managing user accounts and project setup. 

  • Provide helpdesk support, troubleshoot issues, and escalate issues appropriately. 

  • Reconcile data differences between PLM and ERP 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Act as a liaison between engineering, procurement, project management, and other relevant departments to facilitate effective communication and information flow. 

  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to provide insights and updates on BOM status, order processing, and project timelines. 

Continuous Improvement 

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, data accuracy enhancement, and efficiency improvements in BOM management and procurement processes. 

  • Collaborate with relevant teams to implement recommended improvements and best practices. 

  • Assist department managers in the development of process improvements and document controls, as appropriate. 

  • Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.  

Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities) 

  • ​​Associates Degree​ or equivalent preferred. 

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience preferred  

  • Experience working in an ERP solution, preferably NetSuite. 

  • Familiarity with a PLM solution, preferably Bild. 

  • Strong capabilities with Excel, VBA experience preferred. 

  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills 

  • Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively 

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group 

  • Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Sigma Design Core Values

  • Highly organized and detail oriented 

Work Environment 

Standard office environment with normal amounts of office related conditions. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation.  Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients, or suppliers.
