Job description

Role Overview
The Assistant Manager, Production Planning / BOM Control, is responsible for overseeing production planning, production performance analysis, Bill of Materials (BOM) management, and Engineering Order (EO) implementation activities. This position serves as a key liaison between the customer (HMGMA), internal departments, and Hyundai MOBIS headquarters to ensure effective production control, system accuracy, engineering change management, and continuous operational improvement. The role requires strong analytical, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills to support plant objectives and customer requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)
  • Lead cross-functional coordination efforts related to production planning, BOM management, and engineering change implementation.
  • Support department initiatives to improve production efficiency, inventory accuracy, and operational performance.
  • Analyze production trends and key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide recommendations to management.
  • Drive resolution of issues impacting production schedules, material availability, and customer requirements.
  • Support development and implementation of process improvements related to SAP, MES, BOM, and production planning activities.
  • Assist in developing standard operating procedures and best practices for production control and BOM management.
  • Provide guidance and training to team members on production planning systems, engineering changes, and operational processes.

This role operates within defined corporate policies and procedures and exercises judgment appropriate to its level of responsibility. The position may influence decisions related to functional operations, processes, or recommendations and escalate matters as required

Qualifications (The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required and preferred for this position.)
Required Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in production planning, production control, BOM management, engineering change management, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using ERP systems such as SAP and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of Just-in-Sequence (JIS) and automotive production control processes.
  • Experience with SAP PP, MM, and SD modules and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Ability to analyze production data and identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and product structures.
  • Knowledge of Engineering Order (EO) and Engineering Change Management processes.
  • Strong project coordination and organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with CATIA or similar engineering drawing software preferred.
  • Experience in battery system, automotive assembly, or advanced manufacturing operations preferred.

Preferred Education & Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience supporting Just-in-Sequence (JIS) manufacturing operations within the automotive industry.
  • Experience working with Hyundai, Kia, MOBIS, or other OEM/Tier 1 automotive suppliers.
  • Experience supporting automotive plant launches or facility start-ups.

Working Conditions:
  • Office setting, some walking within and between buildings
  • Overtime as needed
