Job description

Assistant Project Manager

The Assistant Project Manager will collaborate with the Project Manager or other team members to assist with the planning, organization, and management of the day-to-day operations of commercial construction projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work directly with Project Manager and Preconstruction Teams to understand size and scope of projects along with timelines and applicable project deadlines
  • Assist Superintendent in maintaining construction schedule
  • Adjust plan as necessary based on field conditions and progress
  • Interact effectively with subcontractors to clearly define work scopes, ensure all work items are being addressed
  • Acting as direct liaison between Project Manager, superintendent, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Read and understand job bid instructions, detailed specifications, prepare a "take off" of materials included in the job, estimate all necessary labor, materials, buyout items, equipment costs to prepare an estimate
  • Assess opportunities and risks through plan reviews and site visits
  • Assisting Project Manager with bid preparation, review, and submission for Federal, State, County and private jobs
  • Assist in development of project schedule
  • Promote a safe work environment

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering discipline or Construction Management preferred
  • Previous experience in a project management role is a plus 
  • Ability to read and interpret shop and design blueprint drawings
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software
  • Demonstrated ability to promote a safe work environment
  • Excellent team and communication skills
  • Problem solving and ability to adjust to changing circumstances
  • Willingness to travel
